Principal
(Mrs. I.P.Bhatia)
|
|
A
very dynamic, creative and cheerful personality
has many feathers in her cap . Graduated from Punjab University
in 1980, she did her post-graduation in
English from the same University in 1982
with distinction in poetry. In the same
year, i.e. 1982, she became a lecturer
in one of the most reputed Women's Colleges
at Ludhiana. After serving there for 5
years and for one year at C. M. K. National
Girls College, Sirsa (Haryana), she left
the lucrative job of a college lecturer
in March, 1989 to join as the principal
at D.A.V. Public School, Fatehabad (Haryana)
and served the school for the long period
of eleven years.
|
| |
|
During
her tenure there she did a remarkable
job. Starting from scratch, not only did
she build an excellent public school,
but also rendered her services to the
society; she played an active part in
the literacy drive as a member of Literacy
Committee, Haryana Govt.; became the chartered
(founder) president of Inner Wheel Club,
Fatehabad and did a great deal of social
service particularly for the deprived
children and women folk of the area.
|
| |
|
In
the field of education, she brought many
innovations and, in fact, gave a new meaning
to the Public School system. In 1995,
her school became the first school in
Haryana to implement 'No Homework, No
Bags, No Examinations' system as recommended
by Prof. Yashpal.
She joined D.A.V. Centenary Public School,
Noida on 30.09.2000, just eleven years back.
Within this period, she has
brought many changes in the school. Having
a great love for children, she is always
thinking and devising various ways to
make learning easy for kids.
|
| |
|
Her
vision of the school is that " it is a
learning place where every stake-holder
(staff, students, parents and community)
finds joy and pride. It is an open, free
and friendly environment where children
enjoy learning through playway methods;
teachers are there not to teach, but to
support, assist, motivate and facilitate
the child to learn'. 'No pressure, no
burden on the child; let him grow in a
natural way. Give the child freedom to
imagine, to create, to think and to express.
Respect the child's freedom and his views
and above all love and trust the child
and believe that every child is good'-
these are her views which form the basic
culture of the school.
|
|
Under
her guardianship, D.A.V. Public School,
Noida today stands apart in various ways.
It has become the first school not only
in Noida, but also in U.P. to implement
"No Homework, No Bags and No Examinations"
system up to class II.
Bags
from class III onwards have been made
lighter by devising new ways of setting
the timetable in such a way that no child
has to bring more than 5-6 books and notebooks
in a day - no unit tests or constant fear
of tests and examinations.
|
